Project Description

WHAT FOODS ARE GOOD FOR YOU?

We all know that eating nutritious food is a key component of living a healthy life, however, eating healthy is easier said than done. Hau‘oli Piha will be providing nutrition education to the community, initially focusing on the Native Hawaiian population, as they as a group have some of the poorest health statuses, much of it due to improper nutrition. We will be collaborating with Dr. Terry Shintani, a unique physician-nutritionist-community health advocate, and medical school professor. Dr. Shintani has supported the underserved and Native Hawaiian communities throughout his career with hundreds of programs and activities. One of his programs won the highest national award from the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services.
